While the Others Fight, Jimmie Johnson Just Wins
Some athletes rise to the occasion and some don't. Jimmie Johnson is one of those athletes that rises to the top of the class when the pressure is on him. He just won the NASCAR race at Dover International Speedway and had a dominating performance. His team has not exactly been hitting on all cylinders lately and they could have been doing better. Just like the great Michael Jordan who stepped up to the plate almost every time he needed to, Jimmie stepped it up and won the race in Dover Delaware.
Jimmie's #48 Lowes Chevy had a dominant race and even led the most laps during the afternoon. The race had a lot of green flag runs and not many cautions at all. I am sure there are fans calling NASCAR tonight asking for Jimmie's car to be inspected as tough as Clint Bowyers car was last week. It amazes me how many fans are not realizing they are watching a great driver. They will get it in a few years I can only hope.
Jimmie Johnson led five times for a race high 191 laps en route to his 53rd career victory and sixth of 2010. What I didn't realize is this was the first time a Hendricks-owned car has been in Victory lane in 10 races. When you think about Jimmie stepping it up this time of year you have to remember Jimmie has also won 19 of the 62 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series "Chase" races, more than any other driver. That says a lot about his talent during crunch time. We are in unexplored territory every time Jimmie wins another race.
At a time when the other drivers in the Sprint Cup chase, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, and Clint Bowyer are busy fighting between them, their teams they are going to watch Jimmie Johnson win the Sprint Cup Championship for the 5th year in a row. I don't know about you but I think they need to place their focus on trying to winning some races in this chase.
Next up is Kansas and I am sure the #48 team will be the team to beat. What do you think?
