Behind the Scenes
The inside story
Auto racing is a highly complex activity. It is both a business and a sport – entertainment for many, a professional career for others.
Organizing and preparing all the diverse elements that go into a racing event requires a wide variety of roles, skills and specialties – from race track design and operations, to race control, to the design, engineering, fabrication, setup and other work that a race team puts into fielding a competitive car.
In this area you will see and experience what most spectators never do – all the work that goes into a racing event.
Experience highlights include Flag the Race, where you find out what it’s like to start and finish a race on a flag stand; Racing Science – March-Cosworth car components, aerodynamics, and engine technology; and Over the Wall, an experience of pit-stop activities like jacking, tire changing, and refueling.
