NASCAR's New One-Championship-Only Rule Rocks

NASCAR is about to officially announce a new rule that forces drivers to choose one and only one series in which they're going to race for championship points. Bully for NASCAR.

If IndyCar Cares Enough to Ask, I'll Answer

I recently received an email from IndyCar Nation/INDY Downforce asking me to participate in a brief survey to "help us understand opinions and perceptions of several motorsports venues."

The Graying of NASCAR's Green

I’m not one to think or worry much about age. But I started thinking a bit about age when I read the following tweet from CNBC’s Emmy-winning sports business reporter, Darren Rovell, the man behind the Sports Biz blog: @darrenrovell: Nielsen: Median age of viewer -- NBA (39.3), NHL (43.4), NFL (46), MLB (51.4), NASCAR (51.6). Thought MLB will have oldest.

End of an Era: The Last "New Track Record" at Indy

To the most recent generation of IndyCar fans, the words "new track record" mean almost nothing. Tom Carnegie's voice is a relic of a bygone era, from back when the Indianapolis 500 championed innovation (remember, the first 50 or so years of the event featured front-engine roadsters) and the sport hadn't even seen the creation of CART.

Women Who Have the Need for Speed

Classic cars aren’t the only reason you’ll want to be at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction the week of January 17 in Scottsdale, Arizona. On Wednesday, January 19, from 10 a.m. until noon, “Women Who Have the Need for Speed” will be the subject of a panel discussion in the 500-seat “garage area” at Barrett-Jackson. The panelists are:

What's It Going to Take to Bury USF1 Online?

I was talking to someone about the new United States Grand Prix set for Austin in 2012 and I said I would send him a link so he could see the proposed track design.  Guess what popped up at the top of the page when I googled "US F1?"Yup:

Holiday Motorsports Traditions Run In The Family

Christmas and New Years are holidays spent with family, but admittedly, by the time Christmas Eve rolls around I am really really missing my NASCAR fix.  Some of my fondest holiday memories revolve around motorsports.

My Racing Wish List for Santa

Christmas is only a day away and as I sit here jonesing for some kind, ANY kind of racing to watch on televison or read about online, I keep thinking about what I want Santa to bring me for Christmas. Yes, my wish list includes lots of noble things like a cure for cancer, world peace, the elimination of poverty and a few hearts and souls for select Senators, Congressman, bank presidents and media moguls.

How To Get Prepared For The Next NASCAR Season

Sure Christmas is a few days away and you are getting your Holiday parties in order, but in a few short weeks we will be back to NASCAR racing. If you are like me, you are having serious NASCAR withdrawals at this point. Odds are you would rather see Darrell Waltrip say "Bogity, Bogity, Bogity" than Santa Claus saying "Ho HO HO". I feel your pain too.
